Library activity, undo and restore
Library activity is the library’s own record of who moved which copy where, who changed a copy’s condition, and who removed a copy — one copy at a time or in bulk, from the website or the phone app — with what it was before and what it became. Open it from My Library → Library tools → Reports → Library activity. The newest changes come first; a bulk action is one entry you can open to see each copy; "Show older changes" goes further back. Changes stay listed for 90 days. Shelving a copy you have only just added is part of adding it and is not listed. Marking a copy missing or found (see Checking a shelf) is listed too, without Undo — the opposite mark is the way back. Moving one copy from its book page also offers "Undo" in the "Copy moved" message, removing one offers "Restore" in its message, and a bulk action offers either in its report.
- Open My Library → Library tools → Reports → Library activity.
- Find the change. Each entry says who made it, when, and "Can be undone until" a date 30 days after the change.
- Press "Undo" for a single change, or "Undo all N" for a bulk action. The copies go back to their previous location or condition, and the undo itself is added to the list.
Undo never overwrites anything newer. If a copy has been changed in any way since — moved again (even back to the same shelf), edited, or given a new price — or has been transferred to another library, or the location it would go back to has been deleted, the button is greyed out with the reason. If that happens between opening the page and pressing Undo, nothing is changed and a dialog names each copy that stood in the way. A bulk action is undone all or nothing: every copy goes back, or none does. After 30 days a change can no longer be undone, and an undo cannot itself be undone — make the change again instead. Pressing Undo twice, or again after a lost connection, never puts anything back twice.
- Removed a copy by mistake? Open My Library → Library tools → Reports → Library activity and find the removal. It says "Can be restored until" a date 30 days after the removal.
- Press "Restore" for one copy, or "Restore all N" for a bulk removal. The same copy comes back — with its notes, price, cover, photos, custom-field values and loan history — on the shelf it was removed from.
- If that shelf has been deleted in the meantime, you are asked where the copy should go: pick a location, or leave "No location" to restore it without one. Nothing is restored until you choose.
A removed copy disappears at once from everything that counts what the library holds — the catalogue, search, duplicate warnings when scanning, statistics, value, loans, public catalogues and showcases, and exports — and comes back to all of them when it is restored. A copy out on loan cannot be removed: mark it returned first. A bulk removal is restored all or nothing, like an undo. A removal can no longer be restored once its 30 days have passed, or if the copy has been permanently deleted; the button is greyed out with the reason, and a dialog names the copies if that happens while the page is open. Restoring twice, or again after a lost connection, never brings anything back twice, and a restore cannot itself be undone — remove the copy again instead.
After 30 days a removed copy is permanently deleted, with its notes, custom-field values, photos and loan history. Its cover and copy photos stay stored for the whole 30 days, so a restored copy has them all; after that they are deleted too, unless something else in AllMyBooks still uses the same image. The activity entry stays until its 90 days are up, still naming the book. Deleting the library, or the account of its last member, erases removed copies and their activity at once — there is no 30-day wait.
Some things are not listed and cannot be undone here: merging or deleting locations and tags, transfers to another library, loans, edits to the shared book record, tags and custom fields. A merge stays final.
Library activity, undo and restore are for Admins and Members, and only for their own library — Guests do not see the page or Library tools. Undo and restore are on the website; the phone app’s changes, removals included, are listed there too. Someone whose account has been deleted is shown as "a former member".
