Getting Started
What AllMyBooks is, your library, and the fastest way in.
What AllMyBooks is
AllMyBooks is a personal library manager for a household or a small library: scan barcodes to add books in seconds, track multiple copies and where each one lives, lend books to friends, and see what your collection is worth. Your catalog is shared with the people you invite, not just kept to yourself.
Your library
A "Library" in AllMyBooks is your shared collection — a household’s, or a church, school or community library’s. Everyone you invite to it sees the same books, shelves, and loans. If you belong to more than one Library (say, your own and a family member’s), a switcher appears at the top of the My Library page so you can pick which one is active — the app always shows the Library you currently have active.
Every member has a role — Admin, Member, or Guest — which controls what they can do. See the Sharing a Library article for what each role can perform.
Confirm your email
If you sign up with an email address and a password, we send you one confirmation email straight away. Open it, press Confirm my email on the page it opens, and your library is ready. Signing in with Google skips this step.
Your first three steps
- Add your first book — scan a barcode, search, or type one in by hand.
- Set up a room or shelf — even one location is enough to start organizing.
- Invite a member — admins can bring in everyone else who keeps the collection (optional; skip this if you’re cataloguing solo).
Your home, tasks and tools
My Library is your full catalogue, with search and filters, and the Add / Scan button in the navigation bar adds a book from anywhere. The home page and the tasks it suggests, where search looks, and the Library tools panel with its pins have their own guide.
