Andreas Gursky - architecture: [in conjunction with the Exhibition Andreas Gursky. Architecture, Institut Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt, May 11 - September 7, 2008]

"This catalogue... is the first monograph to explicitly bring together selected photos of architecture from 1988 to the present by the Düsseldorf-based artist. It features keynote essays on this central theme in Andreas Gursky's oeuvre as well as intensive picture essays on each of the fifteen images on display. The catalogue and the exhibition thus for the first time explore the full depth and breadth of Gursky's notion of architecture with a view to the tectonics and textures of our built world, both on the inside and from the outside: here a high-tech cathedral of nano-research encounters archaic temple tectonics and an ostentatious place of political power comes up against the informal architecture of slums and the nocturnal illuminated texture of a megalopolis, to name but a few of the emblematic images created by Gursky."--
